One of Nigeria’s veteran female singers, Stella Monye, will on Sunday, April 28, 2013 be celebrating her long years in the music industry in grand style.
Fondly referred to as the ‘Samba Queen’ Stella plans to use the day to celebrate her 50th birthday and 30th anniversary of her music career. The singer will also use the occasion to officially unveil the remix of her 18-track album titled, ‘Best of Stella Monye’.
The Nigerian Entertainment Conference an initiative of the NET publishing company will debut on Friday April 26, 2013, according to NET founder, Adekunle Ayeni, the Nigerian Entertainment Conference “is an invaluable initiative needed at this critical time in our industry, to steer the different sectors and associated elements, in the appropriate direction”. Rapper MI has announced that budding female Disc Jockey, DJ Lambogini has been signed on to Loopy Music, making her the rapper’s official DJ.
DJ Lambo as she is fondly called has been working with MI in the last one year now. She was with him at the 2012 Star Trek music concert held across the country.
Loopy Music is also home to rappers, Loose Kaynon, Soul-Jazz singer, Ruby and rock band, Threadstone. Fellow Chocolate City acts, Jesse Jagz and Ice Prince are heavily affiliated with the label.
Executive producer of Nigeria’s most prestigious annual music awards, The Headies, Ayo Animashaun has announced a plan to launch an online radio station, Streethop.
According to Ayo Animashaun, “This is a three-year idea that we’ve always had. It’s going to follow the steps of Hip On TV and Hip Hop World Magazine, but this time, it’ll be more daring…radio and online.”
Confirming the proposed date to launch this latest project off his stable, Ayo Animashaun said,

The manager of Square Records, Jude Okoye who is also the brother of Nigeria’s dynamic music duo, P-Square says he will not sign any artiste on Square Records until P-Square stops singing.
Jude said, “I don’t know about Peter and Paul but me personally I won’t sign any artiste until P-Square stops singing, that is the same thing I said when you asked me why I’m not shooting videos for other artistes, everyone that comes under this umbrella will start comparing.”
